How have I never heard of an Eisenhower Matrix??? (Mental note to try one when I’m back at work after parental leave…) Also super curious about which budget tool you’re liking. I’ve always supplemented ours with a spreadsheet, especially for projected expenses and moving money, though after Mint was phased out I was forced to find a new budgeting tool that I like a lot more (probably because it’s so customizable). But I am a die hard spreadsheet lover for all contexts 😂

I'm using Monarch - so far I'm LOVING it. It had all the functions other things have lacked, and it's saving me an insane amount of time. Going to get through a full month or two before making my official declaration of love 🤣

Thanks for doing the research for us! I feel like we’ve tried every budgeting thing out there and nothing seems to stick (and neither does our budget 😬)

Ooh interesting—I’ve been using Quicken Simplifi, but look forward to your review of Monarch in case it would end up being a better fit!

I'm a YNAB cult follower but I've been getting a lot of ads about Monarch. Very curious about it and would love to know more!

Will definitely do more of an overview after I get a full month in!

I tried YNAB! The reason it didn't work for us is because we have so many funds that roll over from month to month and at least at the time I was trying YNAB, there wasn't a function for that.

I'll definitely do a review of Monarch after this month!

Wait until you try reading on your Kindle WHILE laying on your Pranamat in bed after a warm shower. Nothing better!

I may be ditching the spreadsheet if this app works the way I'm thinking it will. Light a candle, say a prayer!

I joined the Kindle cult this past Christmas! I was the same way. I had one of the first ones, but never could get into it. Now I read so much more consistently when I'm reading books on it. Hooking it up to Libby is a gamechanger as well. Library books are easy to find, put on hold and add to your Kindle.

I'm curious about the pranamat. Does it vibrate or is it just the pokeys that give you the relief?

It's just pokeys! Will report back.

LOVE my Pranamat!! I’ve been using one for a couple years now and it is amazing (and easy to use ha)! My kids even love it! If you don’t already have another code, code emilyh will get you the best deal currently 🤗

I also use a spreadsheet for our budget- apps and other systems never worked so I created our own.

What’s important is tracking the expenses

Bailey Walden's avatar

Definitely. We use a lot of sinking and rollover funds, which is a why a spreadsheet has always worked best for us

Same! And also lots of one off and quarterly expenses so best captured with an annual spreadsheet and tracking
